What
targets will you set yourself for G324 next year – when you will make a
trailer?
For next years filming of a trailer I will make sure my filming is done earlier so my group are able to edit it better and more efficiently.
I will also make sure I have more footage so that it will be longer as our opening was relatively short.
Next year I will improve the quality of footage through better sound as at some places in our opening we were unable to hear the characters
Next year I will also involve more camera angles as there were not that many effective shots like a shot reverse shot between two characters or for example an establishing shot so that we could get an idea of the setting

Looking
back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel
you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
Looking back at my preliminary task I believe that we have improved in our filming as we only managed to use medium shots and close ups. Whereas in our film opening we manage to involve a panning shot medium shots and point of view shots. I was dissapointed we were unable to involve shot reverse shot between our characters having conversations which would give more affect to the characters having conversations more interesting then having to look from one angle. In our opening we should of put in an other the shoulder shot of the killer approaching the first victim as it would give a better view of what happened
This was a clip from our preliminary task
This was from our final product and was one of the two point of view shots we used which shows that we improved our filming quality after practice with the preliminary task.

Who
would be the audience for your media product?
Our target audience would be teenagers and young adults which are normal target audiences for horror films as there are age restrictions on being able to watch them due to graphic content, which would be heavily linked with our film as we would aim to introduce blood. I also have found out that younger people prefer horror films to any other age group as they feel more secure, this is shown in other well known horror films such as the Scream films. Younger people also prefer a thrill seek so they would be more looking to watch our film

What
kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Twisted Pictures would be one media institution that may distribute our media product this is because they produce films such as the Saw series of films. Saw films are known for horror and gore which is also involved in our film. The same institution went on to have a deal with Texas Chainsaw Massacre which is an ideal match with our film as it to do with a masked stalker in the woods picking off a character every so often making them turn on each other.

What
have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this
product?

We used the iPhone to film our opening as it has one of the best quality cameras that was accessible to us. We didn't choose to have a high end camera as it would cost our group too much and wouldn't be able to afford it. We were also able to edit our opening on the iPhone and upload it onto YouTube
which shows that the iPhone is a multi platform technology.
We used the website Blogger to be able to post our blogs as it is a public website in which other people can read our blogs

Evaluation Activity 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This is a shot of our titles, this is the title of our film which is red on a black background this is conventional of a horror genre as it has connotations of blood and death. The audience that the genre of our film is horror

This shot is a long shot which shows the setting of our film. The woods are gloomy and eerie. Also they are quite deserted, this would create tension for the audience as they would recognize this conventional setting that is often frequent in horror. The audience would expect a dramatic tense event to take place.

This is a close up shot of one of the main teenage characters. The audience can see that he has a scared facial expression which would create tension because they know that something bad is going to happen. This is conventional of horror films as they often include close up shots of the characters faces to emphasise their emotions and the shocking results which are happening.

This shot is of our production company and the titles reveal the name Graveside Productions. The image is symbolic and shows a gravestone which links to the name of the company. This also hints to the audience that Graveside Productions make horror films. It is conventional of a film opening to include the production titles in the beginning. The colour scheme of the production titles is black, grey, white and red. The white and red contrasting font stands out against the black background. Film openings often include a black background to make the title stand out.
The title in the top left side of the screen are meant to show which character is being played by which actor. This is made clear by using a white font on a darker background. This is conventional in a film opening.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Our main protagonist Will Smith is similar to Paul Allen because there both victims and killed by the villain. There both close up shots which show there scared facial expressions. However Will is a teenager and Paul is a adult, Also Will is in a forest which is conventional in a horror film, whereas Paul is in his flat which is conventional for a thriller.
Some differences are that firstly Will is dressed in a coat and Paul is dressed in a shirt & tie. Paul and Will both have different hair styles and hair colours.

Diary Of Our Filming
We started our filming on Saturday 27th December at Forty Foot Park. On this day we got a little bit of footage, we managed to film the characters walking into the woods heading towards where they would go and camp for the night. We filmed this footage at about 3:00 pm this is due to the short amount of daylight there is during winter so if we had to film earlier. We were happy with the footage, the only problem with this day is that we could have got more but we were stretched for time as it took a long time to get started.
The second day we filmed was the next day. This day we filmed the characters getting stalked by the killer and the conversation the three characters had on the log. We were disappointed with this days filming as we made a few mistakes firstly we had countless outtakes, for example there was a finger over the lense so we had to re-do the whole scene again. Secondly there was interruptions such as a dog and the walker walked into the shot. There was also loads of background noise so we found it difficult to hear the characters conversation
We unfortunately didn't manage to film the next two days due to bad weather conditions and some of the cast members had plans
We manged to film the end of our opening on Saturday 3rd January
