Evaluation Activity 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This is a shot of our titles, this is the title of our film which is red on a black background this is conventional of a horror genre as it has connotations of blood and death. The audience that the genre of our film is horror

This shot is a long shot which shows the setting of our film. The woods are gloomy and eerie. Also they are quite deserted, this would create tension for the audience as they would recognize this conventional setting that is often frequent in horror. The audience would expect a dramatic tense event to take place.



This is a close up shot of one of the main teenage characters. The audience can see that he has a scared facial expression which would create tension because they know that something bad is going to happen. This is conventional of horror films as they often include close up shots of the characters faces to emphasise their emotions and the shocking results which are happening.




This shot is of our production company and the titles reveal the name Graveside Productions. The image is symbolic and shows a gravestone which links to the name of the company. This also hints to the audience that Graveside Productions make horror films. It is conventional of a film opening to include the production titles in the beginning. The colour scheme of the production titles is black, grey, white and red. The white and red contrasting font stands out against the black background. Film openings often include a black background to make the title stand out.




This is a high angle shot that shows three of the main characters in our film. They're wearing recognisable costumes and stereotypical representations of teenagers. The audience would expect to see a group of teenagers in a horror film as they are conventional character types. Also the angle of the shot makes them appear vulnerable and hints that something bad could happen.

























The title in the top left side of the screen are meant to show which character is being played by which actor. This is made clear by using a white font on a darker background. This is conventional in a film opening.
